We were fortunate enough to experience the new Pirelli P ZERO™ range both on public roads in Malaysia during the official launch, and on the iconic Sepang International Circuit.
Our on-road drive took us up to the Genting Highlands in a Mercedes-Benz GLE 450 fitted with the P Zero (PZ5), before switching into a Mercedes-Benz GLC350e and a Mercedes-Benz EQS 500, both riding on the new P Zero E. Across all vehicles, on-road behaviour was impressive. Both tyre variants delivered exceptionally low cabin noise and well-mannered ride characteristics, which paired perfectly with these premium models. Despite the low-profile fitments, road comfort remained plush and composed.
It’s important to note that Malaysian road surfaces are generally very smooth and well maintained. We did not encounter coarse chip, corrugations, or the harsher tar surfaces common across Australia. As such, a true verdict on real-world Australian conditions is still to come once we complete local testing.
Track testing at Sepang revealed the performance bandwidth of the P ZERO™ (PZ5). Conditions shifted between dry stretches and brief, tropical downpours, giving us an excellent mix of scenarios. Behind the wheel of both the Porsche Taycan and the BMW 5 Series, we pushed the tyre as hard as possible. The PZ5 delivered remarkable grip and consistency, feeling almost race-tyre-like in the way it hung on through Sepang’s fast, sweeping corners. Even under high-speed load and through occasional wet sections, the tyre remained stable, predictable, and extremely confidence-inspiring.
