Dunlop nailed it with the Grandtrek AT5 60% onroad,40% offroad capabilities. Its zigzag shaped blocks help in gripping the road during tight turns. The vehicle has enough grip to navigate almost any type of road terrain.Their soft blocks helps in reducing the stopping distance in cases of emergency or hard braking thus it scores lots of points on this test according to various vehicle magazines out there.I would recommend them to a mild offroader enthusiast.

The AT5's are the quietest SUV AT tyres I have used in over 500,00km driving in WA and the NT. Roads such as the Tanami and Nullagine are punishing and the AT5 is proving to be a sound performer under these conditions. I find the optimum pressure is 38psi (2.62Bar).

I did some extensive research online and asked some existing users of these tyres before purchasing. I was not keen on any purchasing any noisey AT tyres as 90% of my driving is on road with other 10% towing a caravan and off road. Reviews and feedback were positive so I took the plunge and I have no regrets. Although I have only had them for a month, I have driven in wet conditions, on road, off road and towing my caravan. I couldn't be happier with their looks, performance and handling in wet, comfortable ride, very low noise on the highway. I would highly recommend Dunlop Grandtrek AT5s to those who do majority of driving on road but require decent off road capability from time to time.

10,000 km throughout Goldfields, Pilbara and Kimberley, towing 1.8T camper. Mostly sealed, some unsealed and lots of corrugations. Aired down almost obsessively when on unsealed to give them the best chance (passenger construction and 50 series profile - not ideal). No punctures, no chips/cuts, surprising amount of grip off road and sandy tracks at approx 28-30psi warm, corrugations low 30's psi warm. Down to 15-16 psi warm on soft sand and looked flat but did the job. Highway towing pressures as per placard (rears went up to 50psi warm). I had misgivings about these tyres at the start but had to go with what I could get for 265/50 R20 to replace the OE highway terrains. I was amazed - they performed brilliantly - but with airing down whenever required to try and protect them. Since swapped to 17" wheels and 265/65 LT construction tyres (because that's what you do...) but to be honest, if all you can get as AT tyres on 20" wheels at this size/profile are the Grandtrek AT5s, you could do a lot worse - as long as you air down. Worth the price and recommended, if you want to stick to the OE rim size.

After researching these on line, since 8/2020, I have been relieved to buy them on my kEaster Monday, as they have been sold out online since then! I believe they are the answer to my prayers: grippy in wet & dry, so quiet compared to my previous Pirelli ATR +, that lasted 50000 km, so am hoping these AT5’s will last as their treadwear rating says 500, whereas ATR+ were rated as 740! Happy times ahead with grippy AND quiet All Terrains, ready for any occasion & some occasional towing our 1.5 tonne camper!
