Michelin was founded in 1889 by brothers Edouard and Andre Michelin and quickly became the world's largest tyre manufacturer.
By 1956 Michelin had created and patented a key innovation in tyre history, the radial tyre.
The original radial named the "X" tyre was developed for the Citroen Traction Avant and the 2CV.
Michelin went on to buy Citroen and later BFGoodrich.
The tyre company now makes high-performance, SUV, passenger and 4X4 all-terrain tyres for a range of different vehicles.
